Mr. Fred D. Payne, 89, of 968 Airline School Road, Bowersville, GA, died Tuesday, November 07, 2006 at Hart County Hospital.

Born June 18, 1917 in Hart County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Joe FrancesPayne and Lola Woods Payne.He was a WW II Veteran, School Bus Driver for 14 years and was a Poultry Farmer.He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.

His survivors include:Wife, Grace Caudell Payne of the home; Daughter, Martha Jo DiMarco of Bowersville, GA and a Son, Elton A. Payne of Bowersville, GA, Five grandchildren, Jody DiMarco, Kelsey DiMarco, Elton Payne, Jr., Sherri Lynn Payne Doss, Misty Dawn Payne Sherwood; Ten great grandchildren, Nicholas DiMarco, Lacy DiMarco, Brayden DiMarco, Mallary DiMarco, Christy Lynn Doss, Michael Doss, Caleb Doss, Daisy Ward, Makayla Doss and Gabriel Walker also survives.He is preceded in death by parents, son, Alton E. Payne, brothers, Allie Payne, Leo Payne, Ralph Payne; Sisters, Roxie Patten, Mae Cleveland, Nellie Brooks.Fred was the last member of his immediate family.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Johnny Stowe and Rev. Tracy Stowe will officiate.Burial will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 9:00 p.m.The family is at the home.
