Freddie Joe Manley, age 84, of Lavonia, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at AnMed Health.
Born April 2, 1936, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late William "Buster" and Jewell (Jones) Manley. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He worked for a time with the Carpenters Union in Atlanta and then returned home to work in law enforcement. He worked extensively in Elbert, Franklin, Hart, and Stephens Counties and later retired from the Lavonia Police Department after many years of honorable service. Mr. Manley was a dedicated member of the Lavonia Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Glenda M. Kelley.
He is survived by his wife: Joan (Taylor) Manley; daughters & sons-in-law: Krysti & Richard Westbrook, Beth & Bruce Taylor, and Leah & Nathan Skelton; step-son: Troy Taylor grandchildren: Kyle & Melanie Westbrook, Seth & Ashley Westbrook, Jonathon & Jami Taylor, Erin & Cody Byrum, Drew & Paige Cole, Reed Skelton, and Gage Skelton; and great-grandchildren: Max, Slate, and Abe Westbrook, Skylar Westbrook, Nolan and Falon Taylor, Deegan, Maddox, and Witten Byrum, and Grasyn, Gunner, and Laney-Raine Cole.
A private family service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Lavonia Church of God with Rev. Adam Tripp officiating. The family invites friends to join them for the graveside service at 2:45p.m. at the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. For those wishing to pay respects, Mr. Manley will lie in state at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 9:00 until 11:30 a.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Lavonia Church of God.
