Obituary

Mr. Freeman Hudson Hunnicutt, 95, of Opal Street Ext., Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Hart Care Center.

Born on September 17, 1920 in Canon, GA, he was the son of the late Tom Hunnicutt and Etta Childs Hunnicutt.Mr. Hunnicutt retired as Superintendent of the Hartwell Company.He was a former member and past president of the Hartwell Lions Club, and a member and past president of the Northeast GA Chapter of the American Society for Personnel Administration "ASPA". He also was a member of the Royston Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, where he was a member of the Doc Adams Sunday School Class, a former deacon and chairman.

Survivors include two daughters: Linda Jolly and her husband Bob of Hartwell, Debbie Emerson and her husband Dennis of South Daytona, FL; six grandchildren: Kip Jolly and Melissa, Kristi J. Robinson and Fiancé James Horton, Scott Powell and Wendy, Wesley Powell and Kim, Pam York and Grant, and Trent Emerson and Paula; fourteen great-grandchildren: Ethan Jolly, Seth Jolly, Casey Powell, Kate Powell, Bobby Powell, Zac Wood, Paulina Emerson and Olivia Emerson; Peyton Powell, Lock Powell, Sidney Skelton, Caleb Horton, Corey Beth Obermiller, and Emily Salgado; two sisters: Gladys Hartof Royston, and Mary Lena Ray of Canon, also survive.Mr. Hunnicutt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Ida Floyd Hunnicutt; one daughter and son-in-law: Paulette and Bobby Powell; two brothers: Ernest Hunnicutt, L.T. Hunnicutt, and grandson-in-law Lt. Col. Michael Robinson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17, 2015, 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Hartwell with Dr. Steve Albanese and Dr. Hugh Kirby officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.The family is at the home of Bob and Linda Jolly, 990 Royston Hwy, Hartwell, GA. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartwell Property Fund, 81 E. Howell St. Hartwell, GA 30643.
