Mr. Silas "Gary" Bobbitt, age 76, of Royston, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born October 3, 1940, in Surry County, NC, he was the son of the late John and Lola (Burge) Bobbitt. He was a truck driver with Adams Motor Express for more than forty years. Mr. Bobbitt was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Ann (Murphy) Bobbitt of Royston; sons & daughters-in-law: Keith & Dawn Bobbitt of Lavonia and Ricky & Sue Bobbitt of Westfield, NC; step-children: Christy Arnaudauv of Royston and Larry Gillespie, Jr. of Kennesaw; and sister: Bessie Laxton of Mt. Airy, NC.
The funeral service will be held 11: 00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. William Whitfield officiating. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children (www.shrinershospitals.org).
