Mr. Gary Francis Shane, 79, of Canton GA formerly of Hartwell, went home to his friend and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 3, 2023 in Canton GA. Gary passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Born on May 10, 1943 in Austin MN, he was the son of Roy Francis Shane and Bernice E. (Nelson) Shane. Mr. Shane was a retired Project Manager for IBM in Atlanta and a former member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Gary was a devout Catholic, and enjoyed his Friday morning bible study group for over 20 years where he formed profound, lifelong friendships. He enjoyed fishing, and was a highly skilled woodworker. He treasured time spent with his family playing games around the dinner table, and carries an unmatched Yahtzee winning streak.

Survivors include his daughter: Lisa Pendleton (Chuck) of Canton; two sons: John Shane of Canton and Jim Shane of Lawrenceville; a grandson: Nicholas Pendleton (Alana) of Dunwoody also survives. Mr. Shane was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Michaele Wilson "Mike" Shane, and two sisters: Mary Jean Kiktus and Sharon Williamschen.

A private mass memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Gary Shane will be held at a later date. Gary's ashes will be placed beside his wife's in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
