IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gaye Martin
Holland
October 7, 1941 – February 24, 2024
Mrs. Gaye Martin Holland passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
Gaye was born on October 7, 1941, in Hartwell, GA, to the late Edgar Jesse Martin and Cleo Moorhead Martin. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Hugh D. Holland of Hartwell; her daughter and son-in-law: Natalie and Kevin Houseman of Dacula, GA; two grandchildren: Ethan & Hudson Houseman; sister: Emily Bailey (Juddy) of Hartwell; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Holland is preceded in death by her parents, and her son: Charles Martin "Chuck" Holland.
After graduating from Hart County High School in 1959, she continued her education in nursing and became a licensed practical nurse. She then transitioned into education and retired as a paraprofessional from Eagle Grove Elementary/South Hart Elementary. Gaye had a vibrant personality and a witty sense of humor, giving her the ability to make those around her feel loved, welcomed, and happy in her presence. She cherished spending time with her grandsons whom she showered with love and attention. Outside of her family and friends, Gaye loved being among the flowers in her garden and found solitude with nature. She called Hartwell home her whole life and loved the people and community it held.
As an active member of her community and First Baptist Church of Hartwell, Gaye participated in the Hubert Milford Sunday School class and the Women on Missions. Her lively spirit and charm allowed her to never meet a stranger.
