Obituary
Mr. William Eugene "Gene" Beggs, 65, of Vickery Street Ext, Hartwell, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born on February 4, 1949 in Tampa FL, he was the son of the late Richard Blackhall Beggs and Mary Frances Walters Beggs.Mr. Beggs was a retired Project Manager for Progress Energy and was a former member of the Tarpon Springs Jaycees, Palm Harbor Kiwanis and a former board of director's member of the Pasco County Homebuilders Association.Mr. Beggs was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bradley Beggs; a son, Benjamin E. Beggs and his wife Kristin of Tarpon Springs FL; a grandson, Ethan Beggs and a brother, Richard Carl Beggs of Dunedin FL.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date by the family.Memorials may be made to the Hart County Humane Society, PO Box 1062, Hartwell GA 30643 or to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, 3715 Northside Pkwy, Bldg 4, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA30327
