Obituary
Mr. Eugene Talmadge "Gene" Brooks, 80, of Nancy Drive, Hartwell, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 13, 1935 in Royston GA, he was the son of the late Clarence Eugene Brooks and Josie Smith Brooks.Mr. Brooks was formerly employed at Monroe Auto Equipment Company and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include his four daughters: Marie Segars, Debbie Jones, Donna Pickens and Sheila Brooks all of Hartwell; two brothers: Doyle Brooks of Franklin Springs and James Brooks of Commerce; a sister: Myna Booth of Hull; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Amelia Bell Carey Brooks; two brothers: Perry Brooks and D.C. Brooks and a sister: Elizabeth Royston.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Johnny Stowe and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.The family is at the home of Marie and Freddie Segars, 311 Old Reed Creek Road, Hartwell.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
