Mr. Gene Austin Harris, 90, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at his home.

Born on August 31, 1934 in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Henry Earl Harris and Sue Patrick Harris Miller. Mr. Harris was a retired Plant manager for Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston, and was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force, where he served in both the Korean & Vietnam War, and he retired as a Master Sergeant.

Survivors include his daughter: Connie H. Greer (David) of Hartwell; sister: Marcelle Brown of Piedmont, SC; two grandchildren: Bethany & Austin Greer; and a close friend: Lee Brinson of Anderson, SC.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents; step-father: Leland D. Miller; wife: Jo Ann Reynolds Harris; and his son: Kenneth Harris.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mr. Gene Harris will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Meeks & Rev. Forrest Ferguson officiating.  Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1543 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.

The family would like to thank Tugaloo Home Health Care for their care, allowing him to stay at home and Family Hospice for their care and compassion during his last days.
