Mr. Gene Curtis Lewis, age 79, of Lavonia, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home.
Born December 12, 1935, in Hazlehurst, GA, he was the son of the late George Washington Lewis and Queen Victoria (Harris) Lewis. He retired from United Airlines as Scheduling Manager. After retirement, Mr. Lewis moved to Lavonia and worked as a handyman. He was a member of the Lavonia Lions Club and enjoyed working with habitat for Humanity. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Lewis was a 6'3 gentle giant who provided well for his family and was always willing to help those in need.
He is survived by daughters: Janett Scher (Timothy), Cathleen Gene Grosskopf (Richard), and April Lee Davis (Brian); six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lewis will be cremated in accordance with his requests. A celebration of life service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 in the back yard of Mr. Lewis' home.
