Mrs. Geneva Porterfield, age 64, of 153 Hannah's Creek Church Road, Royston, Ga., died Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Born February 7, 1942 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late J.C. Crook and Lillie Mae Evans Crook. She was a retired waitress and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by: husband, Jerry Porterfield, Royston, Ga., son, Dion Roach, Dewy Rose, Ga., daughter, Theresa Fowler, Bowersville, Ga., brothers, Billy Crook, Royston, Ga., and Roy Crook, Powdersville, S.C, sisters, Betty Stevens, Royston, Ga., and Kathleen Fowler, Hartwell, Ga. Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James Edward Roach, brothers, Bobby Crook and Hershel J. Crook and by a sister, Vivian Mae Bridges.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Rev. Kagey Barrow and Rev. Gettis Allen will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.
The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening. The family will be at the home of Dion and Patti Roach, 6514 Elberton Highway, Dewy Rose, Ga.
