Mrs. Geneva (Partain) Willis, age 79, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Willow Garden Personal Care Home in Toccoa.
Born August 13, 1929, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Hoyt and Emily May (Fleming) Partain. Mrs. Willis worked in manufacturing for 36 years and food service for 15 years retiring at the age of 72. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Hart County serving faithfully as long as her health allowed. She was a member of the Mattie Ruth Brown Sunday School Class and the Anita Roper Women On A Mission Group. Mrs. Willis also served as Sunday school teacher and was a participant in the jail ministry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Willis; sister: Patricia VanOmer; brothers: L. J., James Gordon, Charlie, and Bobby Partain.
She is survived by daughter: Diane Wood of Lavonia; daughter & son-in-law: Debbie and Carey Wood of Fair Play, SC; son: Mike Willis of Carnesville; grandchildren: Brian Wood of Lavonia, Tonya Wood of Hoschton, Michelle Norris of Westminster, Matthew Willis of Carnesville, and Katie Willis of Carnesville; 7 great-grandchildren:brother & sister-in-law: Thomas and Bonnie Partain of McDonough; sisters-in-law Sarah Partain of Commerce and Delores Partain of Jonesboro.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Cross Roads Baptist Church in Hart County with Revs. David Wilson, Connie Mack Bowers, Mike Smith and Jonathan Ayers officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. At other times the families will be at their respective homes.
