Mrs. Thelma Genora Coker, age 76, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born March 20, 1940, in the Gumlog Community of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Harley Burton and Thelma Genora (Smith) Coker. During her working career she worked at Toccoa Casket Company, Monroe in Hartwell, Dills Food City and Gumlog Fish House. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Jannie Belle Certain, Sara Atkinson and Geneva Jenkins; brothers: Floyd Coker, James Coker and Arthur Coker.
She is survived by sisters: Barbara Smith and Mary Rogers both of Lavonia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. David Wilson and Ben Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery next to her father and mother. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. At other times the families will be at their respective homes.
