George Robert "Bob" McCall, age 86, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta.
Born September 2, 1935, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Cortez and Minnie (Sheriff) McCall. He grew up in Tom's Creek Baptist Church before moving to Atlanta. He was the owner of McCall Contracting, Inc. and worked as a sub-contractor for Georgia Power for many years, until his retirement. After retiring to the lake, Mr. McCall enjoyed spending time playing on the lake with his family, especially his grandchildren who knew him as "Daddy Bob". He was a man of many talents and few words; he could work on anything. He loved to travel and was especially proud to have visited all fifty states with his wife. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Carolyn Kay (Jones) McCall; daughters: Donna McClearn and Mindy Barber (Chris); sons: Michael McCall and Stephen McCall; brother: J. D. McCall; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: David McCall; and brother: C. O. McCall.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Lavonia First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
