Mr. George Albert Bowen, 66, of 173 Powell Road, Hartwell, loving husband and father, died Friday, Oct 19, 2012 at Athens Regional Medical Hospital.

Born on June 13, 1946 in Anderson, SC, He was the son of the late Albert Ray Bowen and Edna Rowland Bowen. George was a Mechanic with Moore Construction, and attended Assembly Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Simons Bowen; one daughter, Patricia Bowen of Hartwell; two sons: Jason Bowen of Hartwell, and Mark Bowen of Hartwell; two brothers, Charles Bowen of Hartwell, Jim Bowen of Hartwell; two sisters, Clara Glenn of Townville, SC., Anne Baker of Hartwell.Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by his parents; one son Ray Bowen, two sisters, Faye Hill and Fannie Gaines and one brother, Roy Lee Bowen.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 22, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, with Rev. George Moon officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service.The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, special memorials can be made to defray funeral expenses.
