Mr. George C. Cleveland, 84, of Rocky Ford Road, Shoal Creek Community, Lavonia, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville GA.

Born on April 2, 1933 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Joel Cleveland and Elvira Cantrell Cleveland.Mr. Cleveland was retired a delivery man and service technician for AmeriGas and a member and former station commander of the Shoal Creek Fire Department.He was also a member of the Providence United Methodist Church, a trustee, choir member and served on various other committees.

Survivors include his wife: Frances Hill Cleveland; a daughter: Vicki Hollinshead and her husband Tom of Lavonia and a granddaughter: Ashley Hollinshead of Charleston SC.Mr. Cleveland was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Hewell, Harold, R.C., Hayward and Loyd Cleveland.

Funeral services will be Sunday, December 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Dick Huycke and Rev. Doug Brown officiating.Burial will be in the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening.The family is at the home. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Providence United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2395 Providence Church Road, Lavonia GA 30553.
