Mr. George Crowe, 85, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson SC.
Mr. Crowe was the committed and loving husband of Frances for 65 years. The caring father of Sherry Darley and the late Greg Crowe; devoted grandfather to Chris Darley, Greg Darley, and Josh Crowe; and playful great-grand father to Payton, Parker, Anna Claire, Rylyn, Brennen and Brooklyn Darley. Above all, he was a humble servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, seeking to share his love with all he encountered.
Born on January 23, 1933 in Carnesville GA, he was the son of the late William "Will" Crowe and Ossie Love Hart Crowe. Mr. Crowe was retired Owner & Operator of George Crowe Painting Company. A dedicated member of Sardis Baptist Church, he was named the first Deacon Emeritus, headed up the World-Famous BBQ Chicken Fundraising suppers, served on the Family Life Center Building Committee and Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief Team. Mr. Crowe was a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include his sister Betty Graham. Mr. Crowe was preceded by his parents, six brothers: Guy, Radford, James, Horace, W.E. and Jule Crowe and three sisters: Addie McMurray, Mozelle LeCroy and Retha Crowe.
A memorial service celebrating George's life will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. John Silver officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church. The family is at the home. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Sardis Baptist Church Family Life Center, 4359 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell GA 30643.
