Mr. George T. Dowell, 89, of College Street, Royston, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.

Born on November 21, 1930 in Royston GA, he was the son of the late John Harvey Dowell and Pairlee Burch Dowell.Mr. Dowell was an electrician for Monroe Auto/Tenneco plant, and a member of the Rice Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Ruby Scott Dowell; son: David T. Dowell (Judy) of Bogart, GA; two daughters: Brenda D. Herring (Mike) of Hartwell and Phyllis D. Hairston of Royston; four grandchildren: Jonathan Herring, Michelle Brantley (Jon), Mitchell Dowell, and Morgan Dowell; three great grandchildren: Jon Marc Brantley (Jessica), James Brantley, Katie Brantley; one great-great grandchild: Jon Marc Brantley III. Mr. Dowell is preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Lee Dowell, Henry Dowell, Willie Dowell, Ernest Dowell, Harvey Dowell, Benson Dowell; and six sisters: Lula Mae Bryant, Josie D. Downs, Beulah D. McCollum, Eula D. Crowe, Julie D. Fountain, and Mary Alice Dowell.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mr. George Dowell will be held Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Tommy Cleveland officiating.Entombment will be at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
