Mr. George Hunter Harris, 90, of N. Forest Avenue, Hartwell, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born on June 19, 1933 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Samuel F. Harris and Guynell Milford Harris. Mr. Harris was an electrician for Owens Corning, and a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was also a veteran of the US Army, and a member of the American Legion Post #109.

Survivors include his son: Wayne Harris of Woodstock, GA; two daughters: Kathy Dean (Tommy) of Danielsville, GA, and Susan Cleary (Mike) of San Antonio, TX; sister: Lucy Griffith (Thomas) of Hartwell; four grandchildren: Jennifer Dean, John, Patrick, and Andrew Cleary; one great-grandchild: Alice Cleary; and a great friend and neighbor: Garry Meeks. Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mary Fleming Harris; brother: Samuel Harris; and sister: Jacqueline Harris.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. George Harris will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Revs. Forrest Ferguson and Terry Meeks officiating.  Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1543 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
