Bruce Jones

Mr. George Bruce Jones, 77, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026 peacefully at his home.

Born on December 11, 1948 in Atlanta GA, he was the son of the late Marvin Alan Jones and Paula Hogan Jones. Mr. Jones was a 1966 graduate of Chamblee High School and after serving his country he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Managements in 1977.

He worked for 48 years and retired from the printing industry and was the former owner of Pre Press Inc. During his printing career he worked a lot with NASCAR. He was also a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Director, Teacher and various other positions. He served in the US Army from 1968-1971, during which he served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969.

Survivors include his wife: Denise Morris Jones; step-mother: Sandra Hanson of Acworth GA; one son: John Jones (Pam) of Sanford FL; four daughters: Vicki Evanson (Scott) of Statham GA, Jamie Rodriguez (Danny) of Cottage Grove OR, Cati Bowen (Stephen) of Lavonia, and Miranda Shepherd (Dalton) of Hartwell; three sisters: Margaret Johnson of Ball Ground, GA, Jessica Jones of Ball Ground, GA, and Georgia Motes of TN; eleven grandchildren: Skylar Watts (Taylor), Zach Evanson, Austin Jones (Megan), Amber Imwalle (C.J.), Elaina Bowen, Grayson Bowen, Lincoln Shepherd, Lucas Shepherd, Lindsey Menter, Savannah Morton and Zach Morton; and 4 great-grandchildren: Cooper, Jackson, Paisley and Logan.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents: his first wife: JoLynn McClellan Jones; one brother: Jeff Hanson and one sister Sally Robertson.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. Bruce Jones will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2026 at Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Sean Payne and Rev. Cameron Martin officiating with military honors following the church service. Burial will be in the Peachtree Memorial Park in Norcross GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3636 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell GA 30643.
