Obituary
Mr. George A. Marett, 83, of 927 Chandler St., Hartwell, died Thursday, June 5 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born on July 20, 1924 in Hart Co. GA, he was the son of the late Robert Senior Marett and Laura Bailey Marett.He was a former employee of Kidd Motors and was a retired full-time fireman from the Hartwell Fire Department with several years of service.He was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge # 690, Reed Creek Baptist Church and served in the US Navy during WW II in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include his daughter: Cathy M. Brinson of Gainesville; a sister: Virginia Nixon of Marietta; two grandsons: Shane Cleveland and Jason Marett also survive.He was preceded in death by his wife: Ida Sue Brown Marett; a son: Terrell Marett and two brothers: William Marett and Alton Marett.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Dulaney officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home – Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday night.The family is at their respective homes.
