Mr. George Edward "Buddy" Roedler, Jr, 76, of Watkinsville, formerly of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his home.

Buddy was born on January 14, 1945 in West Palm Beach, FL.He was the son of the late George Edward Roedler, Sr and Jacqueline DeLeonard Roedler. He grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Saint Pius Catholic High School in Atlanta in 1963 and Georgia State University in Atlanta in 1967. Buddy married Ann Spears on April 7, 1973 at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Hartwell, GA.The ceremony was officiated together by Pastor Sam Teel and Priest Father Tom Kenny. Mr. Roedler was employed with Sears as a Manager for 30 years and then went on to retire as the Atlanta Branch Manager of Patio Enclosures with 12 years of service. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where he served on the Saint Vincent de Paul Society Board. He also volunteered and delivered Meals on Wheels in the community. Buddy attended the Y in Hartwell where he made many friends. Buddy was a 'car guy' since high school and always owned a sports car and participated in many classic cars shows throughout the years.Buddy loved all the dogs in his life and truly enjoyed living on Lake Hartwell.Buddy told Ann he had had a wonderful life.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Ann Spears Roedler; one son: Kyle Harrison Roedler (Erin) of Tucker GA; two sisters: Camille Roedler Payne (Claude) of Marietta GA, and Jessica Ann Roedler of Decatur GA; and two grandchildren: Charlotte Ann Roedler and Claire Amelia Roedler. Mr. Roedler was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 9, 2021 from 12:30 to 2:00 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

A memorial mass celebrating the life of Mr. Buddy Roedler will be held, Friday, July 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hartwell.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1009 Benson Street, Hartwell GA 30643 or to the Hart Co. Humane Society, PO Box 1062, Hartwell, GA 30643 or to the charity of one's choice.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
