Obituary
Mr. George M. Shiflet, age 76, of 3570 Anderson Hwy., Hartwell, GA, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at his home.
Born April 18, 1934 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Luther Martin Shiflet and Ella Feltman Shiflet.He was retired from U.S. Corps of Engineers; he was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Sardis Baptist Church and the Charles White Sunday Class.
He is survived by:Wife, Mary Jo Hart Shiflet of the home; Son, Jonathan Shiflet and his wife Brandi of Hartwell, GA; Sister, Peggy Adams of Hartwell, GA and one grandchild, Emma Mae Shiflet.He is preceded in death by his Parents and a Son, Paul Shiflet.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church.Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Terry Meeks will officiate.Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home of Jonathan & Brandi Shiflet, 3596 Anderson Hwy., Hartwell, GA.Memorials may be made to Paul Shiflet Memorial Golf Scholarship Fund, 3596 Anderson Hwy., Hartwell, GA30643.
