Georgia Mae Brantley Johnson, age 87, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Brown Health & Rehabilitation in Royston. Her heart just gave out, so now she gets to spend the other half of her life with the Lord.
Born July 25, 1933, in Soperton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Georgia Emma (Stanford) Brantley. She retired from the Nabisco Brand Corporation as a machine operator supervisor. She was a faithful member of the Lavonia Church of God as long as her health allowed. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. Mrs. Johnson will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: E. W. Johnson; sister: Claranell McKenzie Maddox; and brothers: Woodrow Brantley, Edward Brantley, Fate McKenzie, Donald McKenzie, and Alton McKenzie.
She is survived by her son: Ted Johnson; grandchildren: Kimberly Johnson, Angela Johnson, and Ted Johnson, Jr. & his wife: Heather; great-grandchildren: Mackenna, Karson, and Bristol Johnson; and sister: Opal Brantley Wall.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Courtney Umbehant officiating. Entombment will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the service.
