Mr. Gerald W. Herring, 62, of 364 Deer Run Lane, Bowersville, GA, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at his home.

Born October 17, 1945 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late William Jasper Herring and Effie Mae Welborn Herring.He was Owner of Herring Gutter and Insulation and Herring Well Boring and Drilling.He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, Richard Bowers Men's Sunday School Class, Cemetery Committee and a former Deacon.He was also a member of Hart – Franklin Airport Authority, Hart County Board of Education and Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690. He served 8 years in U.S. Army National Guard.

He is survived by: Wife, Jane Ertzberger Herring of the home; Son, Bruce Herring and his wife Cindy of Bowersville, GA; Sister, Peggy Hale and her husband Larry of Hartwell, GA; Brother, Elbert Fleming and his wife Betty of Dewy Rose, GA; Grandchildren, Bryson Herring, Cory Herring, Abby Herring and Evan Herring.He is preceded in death by his Parents; Son, Brian Keith Herring; Brother, Theron Fleming; Sisters, Sara LaCobe and Lillian Cleveland; and a Grandchild, Alex Herring.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at Cross Roads Baptist Church.Rev. Ben Coleman and Dr. Larry Finger will officiate.Burial will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 – 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home.Flowers are optional; Memorials may be made to Cross Roads Baptist Church Building Fund, 3636 Lavonia Hwy., Hartwell, GA30643.
