Mrs. Gertrude Singleton White, 86, of 993 S B White Road, Hartwell, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Hart Care Center.

Born on December 6, 1924 in Toccoa GA, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Singleton and Myrtle Gertrude Smith Singleton. She was a retired machine operator for Bellcraft Mfg., member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Wesley White of Hartwell, Jack White of Bowersville and Bobby White of Hartwell; four daughters, Eva Nelle Powell of Snellville GA, Sharry Greenway of Anderson SC, Cindy Mize of Hartwell and Connie Dutton of Hartwell; three brothers, Mack Singleton of Atlanta GA, Larry Singleton of Martin GA and Randy Singleton of Toccoa GA; three sisters, Alma Sexton of Toccoa GA, Barbara Worley of Hartwell and Elaine Thomas of Eastanollee GA; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and sixteen great great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sam B. White.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Terry Meeks and Rev. John Silver officiating.Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
