Mrs. Gilberta Vickery Wilson, age 91, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Sara Owens Personal Care Home in Toccoa.
Born March 5, 1922, in Nicholson, she was the daughter of the late J. C. and Mae (Haggard) Vickery. She was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William "Will" Wilson; and sister: Ruth Brock.
She is survived by her daughters: Mae Davis, Ruth and James Pless, and Linda and Rick Tanner; brother: Howard Vickery; grandchildren: Angela and Greg Fleeman, Wade Davis, Amy and John Thomas, Shannon and Kelli Davis, Stephen and Melissa Pless, Michael and Kelly Pless, and Toni and Leonard Peragine; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. December 27, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Jason DeFoor and Rev. Michael Pless officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
