Mrs. Gladys Stowe Phillips, 79, of Sunset Road, Canon, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at her home.
Born on June 7, 1936 in Canon GA, she was the youngest of nine children and adored daughter of the William Washington Stowe and Estell Eskew Stowe.Mrs. Phillips was a former employee of Hartwell Mils and a Candler/Inspector for Savannah Valley Egg Company. She was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church, Royston.
Mrs. Phillips was the beloved mother of three children: Shiree Lee of Canon, Tony Phillips and Michelle of Elberton and the late Todd Phillips. Six grandchildren also survive: Jessica Phillips, Jessie Phillips, Cody Phillips, Blake Phillips, Kayla Guthrie and Joey Lee and a great grandchild: Jayden Guthrie.Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years: Julian Phillips; two sisters; Annie Lou Buchanan and Eve Freeman and five brothers: Fred Stowe, Clyde Stowe, Jack Stowe, Stewart Stowe and Cecil Stowe.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Roger Elrod officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening. The family is at their respective homes.
