Gladys York Wright, age 92, of Canon, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the home of her son. Born on May 15, 1932, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Pearl Cleveland York. Gladys devoted her life to her family and her faith. As a homemaker, she filled her home with warmth and love. Her devotion extended beyond her family as she was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church. Her enduring legacy is one of love, compassion, and kindness, and she will be dearly remembered as a loving mother and caring grandmother.

Gladys was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wright; her brothers, Tom York, Earl York, and Bob York; and her sisters, Beulah Hollingsworth, Mildred Garland, Min York, and Addie York.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Martha Wright. Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Carolyn and Nick Simons, and Kathryn and Craig Simmons, as well as her 6 great-grandchildren, Delia, Violet, Clover, Liam, Xander and Lane: and one sister-in-law: Pat York. She is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the of the service hour.
