Gloria Ann Harris Whitfield, age 81, of Lavonia, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Born on March 23, 1944, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. and Mary Etta Stovall Harris. Gloria dedicated many years of her life working at the Hart County Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where her compassion and kindness touched many lives.
Upon retiring, Gloria discovered her greatest joy in life: spending precious time with her beloved grandbabies and great grandbabies. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Max Whitfield; her sister, Violet Walters; and her brothers, Rufus Harris, Bobby Harris, Harold Harris, and Larry Harris.
She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Cole (Grady), Shelia Chitwood (Carter), and Crystal Cawthon (Jason); her brother, Shurette Harris; her grandchildren: Lasha Chitwood, Kassidy Bradley (Matthew), Brandi Glass (Curtis), Lindsey Cureton (Tim), Kaylee Bryant (Dylan), Miley Cawthon, and Callie Cawthon; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Bruce McGee will officiate the service. Entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Tee Singleton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
