Glynn Scott Canfield, age 62, of Lavonia, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born November 26, 1958, in New Orleans, LA, he was the son of the late Franklin Canfield and Dorthy (Stafford) Newman. He was a car enthusiast and a mechanic by trade. Prior to retirement he worked as a chicken farmer. Although he loved cars, he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: David Canfield, Alton Ferrill, and Chucky Newman; and sister: Elizabeth Newman.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Gwendolyn "Wendy" (Poole) Canfield; son & daughter-in-law: Scott & Danette Canfield; daughter: Amanda Fordham; son/grandson: Taylor Fordham; grandchildren: Meagan Lovell and Kayla Leverette & husband Brandon; great-grandchildren: Evan Leverette and Bryan Leverette; sisters: Barbara Bardell, Evelyn Derringer, and Charlotte Breland; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Courtney Umbehant officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Keith Burrell, Harley Jones, Miguel Marsetti, Raymond Poole, Corey Williams, and Robert Williams.
