Mr. Gordon Walter Ortlep, 80, of Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home.

Born on May 29, 1934 in Chicago IL, he was the son of the late William Ortlep and Marie Decho Ortlep.He was a graduate of Northwestern University and retired from Berwick Industries.Mr. Ortlep was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and former President of the Church Council.He was also a member of the Hartwell American Legion Post 109 and a U S Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife: Patricia Yates Ortlep of the home; two sons: Paul Ortlep & Agnes of Cumming GA and Ryan Ortlep & Carol of Carol of Johns Creek GA; two daughters: Stacey Greene & Alan of Midlothian VA and Tricia Riggs & Gordon of Chester VA; nine grandchildren: Miranda, Tristan, Kendall, Tyler, Keegan, Hannah, Daniella, Gabriella and Anastayza and a brother: William Ortlep of Chicago IL also survives.Mr. Ortlep was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother: Nellie Locke Ortlep; a son: Randy Ortlep and a sister: Hazel Kelly.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Matthew Cawthorn officiating.Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 233 Peachtree Street Suite 2225 Atlanta, Georgia, 30303
