Grady Junior Canady, age 86, of Martin, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta.
He was born September 30, 1935, in Franklin County, a son of the late Henry and Lula Mae (Vickery) Canady. He was a proud veteran of both the US Army and US Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, where he reached the rank of Master Mason. During his career, He managed grocery stores for Colonial and Big Star. After retirement he returned to Martin, where he enjoyed working outdoors in his garden with his tractor and watching westerns and auto racing. He was of the Baptist faith
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Maryellen (Kelley) Canady; grandson: John Cory Brown; brothers: William Canady and John Henry Canady; and sisters: Flossie Sanders, Betty Hill, Ruth Chastain, and Pauline Kirk.
He is survived by his daughters: Tammy Jean Roland of Anderson, SC and Pamela Canady Brown (Gary) of Roswell; and sister Mary McCollum; grandchildren: Stefanie Roland and Ryan Brown; and great-grandchildren: Landon Roland, Logan Roland, and Madison Dooley.
The graveside service with veteran military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Stephens Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
