Guy Mauldin, Jr., 92, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at The Clary Center, Toccoa, GA.
Born in Lavonia, August 13, 1923, he was the husband of the late Dorothy (Lewis) Mauldin. He was the son of the late Guy Mauldin, Sr. and Fannie (Garland) Mauldin. Before his retirement in 1985, Mr. Mauldin was co-owner and President of Lavonia Roller Mills, Inc. and Mauldin Brothers Cattle Farm. He was a graduate of Lavonia High School and a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Sandra M. Whitlock of Acworth, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and sister, Mildred M. Lankford of Lavonia. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Mauldin and Jimmy Mauldin, one sister, Mary Sue Thornton, and two brothers, James Riley Mauldin and John "Scut" Mauldin.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. A private burial will follow the service in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service. The family has requested that memorials be made to the Lavonia First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 47, Lavonia, GA 30553.
