Rev. Allen Guy Mayer Jr, 77, of Bowersville, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia.

Born on June 5, 1942 in Camden SC, he was the son of the late Allen Guy Mayer Sr. and Vivian Threat Mayer.Rev. Mayer was a graduate of the Emory University School of Theology and retired after 31 years of service from the South Carolina United Methodist Conference.He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Greenville Bulldog Club and The Church of Anderson.

Survivors include his wife: Deborah Mouchet Mayer; two sons: Allen Guy Mayer III of Saluda NC and Mark Gambrell (Tonya) of Belton SC; two daughters: Lisa Mayer Gilstrap of Easley SC and Marie Crowe (Mark) of Anderson SC; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Guy wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Anderson with Pastor Jonathan Boggs officiating.A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
