Gwendolyn "Gwen" Cox Madison, 92, of Hartwell, Georgia, and formerly of Batesville, Mississippi, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Born on December 12, 1932, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Gwen was the cherished daughter of Lawrence and Leona Dye Cox. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse for the State of Mississippi, bringing compassion and comfort to countless lives.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her sons, Ron Madison (Carla) of Hartwell, GA, and Tommy Madison of Jackson, MS; her sisters, Sherry Peek of Jacksonville, TN, Leslie Crawford (Paul) of Sardis, MS, and Linda Lewis of Como, MS; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; her beloved husband, Thomas J. Madison; her son, LD (Buster) Madison; her brothers, David and Kendall Cox; her sisters, Carolyn Johnson and Nancy Sawyer; and her grandson, Scott Madison.

A graveside memorial service celebrating Gwen's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Lambert Cemetery in Lambert, Mississippi, with Rev. Gene Henderson officiating.

In honor of Gwen's deep love for animals, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the ASPCA in her name.
