Mr. Harvey Stanley Freeman, age 75, of Martin, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at AnMed Health.
Born September 16, 1941 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Dante & Ethel (Farrow) Freeman.He was a graduate of Lavonia High School and served in the US Army Reserves. He was a welder with Duke Power and Carry-on Trailers and he was also a farmer. He was a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Martha (Dowis) Freeman of the home; sons and daughters-in-law: Daryl & Judy Freeman of Martin and Chad & Crystal Freeman of Carnesville; sisters & brothers-in-law: Joy & David Mitchell of Martin and Dannie Sue & Howard White of Martin; brother-in-law: Ben Johnson of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren: Justin Freeman & Amy, Sam Freeman & Ashley, Nikki Phillips & Mark, Tyler, Tanner, Tucker Freeman and Chad Smith; great grandchildren: Caden, Cooper, Colbie-Kate, Casadi, Logan, Cole, Carissa, Easton, Eli and Caleigha.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister: Gwenelle Johnson; and a grandchild: Cale Smith.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Chitwood officiating. A private burial will be at Martin Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in memory of Stanley to Franklin County FFA.
