Mr. H. Richard "Ricky" Rowland, Sr., 56, of 150 Norman Road, Hartwell, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 at home.
Born on August 27, 1953 in Greenville, SC, he was the son of Effie Taylor of Royston, GA. Mr. Rowland was a former soldier and career truck driver.
Survivors include former wife and lifelong friend, Margaret Rowland of Hartwell; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Joanna Rowland of Franklin, GA; and cherished Granddaughters, Megan and Abigayle. Sisters, Ann of Piedmont, SC and Kay of Piedmont, SC survive him as well, as do numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Ricky was preceded in death by beloved sons, Richie and Jody, as well as brothers, Steward Ayers and James Rowland.
Known as "Poppa" to his granddaughters and "Pop" to the friends of his sons, in lieu of flowers, it was his wish that donations be made to Lifelink of Georgia in his name at 2875 Northwoods Parkway, Norcross, GA 30071.
Ricky wished to be cremated and a memorial gathering for friends and family will be announced at a later date.
