Harold E. Bailey, Sr., 95, peacefully passed away in his home in Atlanta on June 1, 2017.
He was born in Hart County, November 20, 1921, to the late W. Eber and Myrtice Reynolds Bailey."HB", as he was known to many, was a World War II vet and a graduate of the University of Georgia.He was the eighth registered Landscape Architect in his beloved state of Georgia and founder of Harold E. Bailey Landscape Company & Nursery.He was a lover of the great outdoors, an avid quail hunter and gardener.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Bill) George of Denton, TX, Camille Patton of Habersham, GA, and Edlene Hiles Bailey of Atlanta; granddaughters Heather (Robert) Page, Kristin (Kasey) Melton, Morgan (Cody) Floyd, Kathryn (Ryan) Hobbs, Sophie Cook, and Rebecca Bailey; niece, Ann Atkinson; and five great grandchildren.He was pre-deceased indeath by his wife, Velma Ellen Morgan Bailey, his son, Harold E. (Ed) Bailey, his siblings, W. Carey Bailey, Elizabeth (Lee) Atkinson, and Virginia (Charles) Parham; his son-in-law, John Patton, IV. His life touched many, and his influence and legacy will live on.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Hartwell, GA on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park, 1171 Royston Hwy. Hartwell GA.The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Georgia State College (SGSC) Foundation to the W. E. and Harold E. Bailey Family Scholarship. 100 West College Park Drive, Douglas, GA 31533.
