William Harold Goolsby, 86, of Doraville, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.
Born November 7, 1930, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Brebson and Minnie (Duvall) Goolsby. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School Class of 1948 and a veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from Monroe Business Systems as a serviceman. Mr. Goolsby was a member of Tucker First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Nell (Crawford) Goolsby; sons & daughters-in-law: Dean & Claire Goolsby and Gary & Melanie Goolsby; grandchildren: Katie Duffin, Adam Duffin, Garrett Goolsby, and Mason Goolsby; brothers: Jack Goolsby and George Goolsby; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Grace Herron, Gladys Caudell, Helen Jameson, Jean Dell, and Sid Goolsby.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Frank Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tucker First Baptist Church, 5073 Lavista Road, Tucker, GA 30084.
