Mr. Harold W. Rowland, 64, of 55 Sanders Trail, Hartwell, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC.

Born on March 28, 1947 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late John Rowland and Hazel R. Rowland. He was a former employee for Monroe Auto Equipment Company where he worked as a mechanic. He was also a member of Mt. Olivet Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Rowland of Hartwell; two sons: Marshall Rowland of Vanna, and Marshall Alderman of Kansas; five daughters: Lynn Carey of Bowman, Kitty Savage of Royston, Rhonda York of Canon, Glenda Degrave of Hartwell, and Peggy Burgess of Hartwell; one sister: Nellie Fowler of Royston; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Rowland was preceded in death by his parents; two wives: Dollie Woods Rowland and Macy Owens Rowland; three sons: Wesley Rowland, David Owens, and James Owens; one daughter: Rita Rowland; and one grandson: Adam Rowland.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Starrett and Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating. Burial will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.The family is at the home.
