Mr. Harold Thomas Shaw, 77, of Opal Street Ext., Hartwell, husband of Nell Shaw, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.

Born on September 7, 1934 in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late Tom Watson Shaw and Lottie Jo Ginn Shaw.He was retired from the Hartwell Police Department after faithfully serving 44 years.Mr. Shaw was a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church, the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690, the Georgia Peace Officers Association, the Georgia Sheriff Association, and a US Army Veteran having served in the Korean War as a Military Police Officer.

Survivors include his wife, Flora Nell Shaw of the home; one son, Steve D. Shaw and his wife Tina of Hartwell; five sisters: Betty Ann White of Franklin, NC, Peggy Boles of Watkinsville, GA, Margaret Adams of Dewy Rose, GA, Jane Isom of Hartwell, and Janet Beasley of Buford, GA; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sharon Elaine Shaw Cleveland; one infant brother; and one grandchild, Melissa Faye Cleveland.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. Doug Brown and Mr. Joel Gaines officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
