Miss Harriett Evelyn Brown, 62, of 801 Athens Street, Hartwell, GA, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at her home.

Born November 8, 1946 in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Boyce Raymond Brown, Sr. and Gertrude Coxe Jones Brown.She was a graduate of Appalachian State University and the University of Georgia.She was retired after 32 years as the Librarian for Hartwell Elementary School.She was a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church, former Choir member, Long time member of the Handbell Choir; Story teller for the children at the church; Member and Past-President of Pilot Club of Hartwell; Member of Hart County Retired Teachers Association, Georgia Retired Teachers, Red Hat, John Benson Chapter DAR, Delta Kappa Gamma; Former Girl Scout leader, Southern Order of Story-tellers, and former President Georgia Library Media Association.

She is survived by: Brother, Boyce Brown of Leicester, NC; Sister, Edwina Mintz of Leicester, NC; Nephew, Charlie Brown; Nieces, Violet Clark, and Angela Brown; Great Nephews, Isaiah Brown and Skylar Brown; Great niece, Eleura Clark.

On Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 4:00 p.m., Memorial Services will be held at Hartwell First United Methodist Church.Dr. R. Allen Stewart will officiate.The family will receive friends after the service in the church sanctuary. On Friday, October 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. an additional Memorial Service will be held at Montmorenci United Methodist Church in Candler, NC.Rev. Diane Johnston will officiate.
