Mr. Harvey Gylum "Larry" Feltman, Jr., 80, of Union Hill School Road, Canon, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on March 30, 1936 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Harvey Gylum Feltman Sr. and Margaret Lucinda Neagle Feltman.Mr. Feltman was retired co-owner of Feltman Brothers, Inc., a commercial masonry contractor and a US Army Reserve veteran. He was a deacon at Liberty Baptist Church of Hartwell and was very active for 22 years with a local mission team that bricks churches throughout the Eastern United States.He had a heart for helping others in his church and in the community.He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with friends and family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loved by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife: Ila Ree Massey Feltman; three daughters: Laura McCollum and her husband Mickey, Carren Banister and her husband Randy, Deanna Green and her husband Tim, all of Canon, one son:Daniel Feltman of Cornelia; fourteen grandchildren: Brenton McCollum, Adam McCollum, Kyle McCollum, Rosemary Carey, Cara Lee Smith, Catherine Banister, Christi Banister, Courtney Banister, Andrew Banister, Claire Banister, Carrianne Banister, Cassidy Banister, Faith Green and Caroline Green; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one brother: James O. Feltman of Fair Play, SC.Mr. Feltman was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: Robert Feltman and Jon Feltman.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 3, 2016, 11:00 am at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell with Rev. Mike Griffin and Rev. Kenny Owens officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church, Catherine Banister Mission Fund, P.O. Box 811, Hartwell GA 30643.
