Mr. Harvey Lester Kimbrell, age 79, of Martin, died Friday, October 10, 2014 at Pruitt Health of Toccoa following an extended illness.
Born July 7, 1935, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late James and Pearlie Mae (Clark) Kimbrell. He retired from the US Army National Guard. He later retired from Lockheed Martin and Wabco as a machinist. He was a member of Compassion Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank Pruitt Health of Toccoa and the Hospice of Pruitt for their care and compassion.
He is survived by three children: Connie Roberts of Martin, Jackie Kimbrell of FL, and Kenneth Kimbrell of Thailand; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty (King) Kimbrell; son: Donnie Kimbrell; brothers: Ernest Kimbrell, Herman Kimbrell, Homer Kimbrell, and Jimbo Kimbrell; and sisters: Eula Mae Trotter, Inez Stevens, Tressie Cawthon, and Hazel Bynog.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
