Mr. Harvey Joe Sanders, 82, of Hartwell, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at Hart Care Center.

Born on December 24, 1937 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Charlie P. Sanders and Myra (Sanders) Sanders.Mr. Sanders was a poultry farmer and former carpenter, and formerly employed at the Monroe Auto plant. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his son: Mike Sanders (Susan) of Hartwell; two sisters: Faye Buchanan of Hartwell and Libby Andrews of Dewy Rose; two grandchildren: Leslie Cleveland (David) and Mary Beth Lott (Kyle); and six great grandchildren: Julian Cleveland, Riley Cleveland, MaKinley Cleveland, Elliott Cleveland, John Luke Lott, and Emma Claire Lott. Mr. Sanders is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Susie Partain Sanders; four brothers: Broughton Sanders, Frank Sanders, Willie Owen Sanders, and his twin Howard Sanders; and two great grandchildren: Nick Pierson and Gavin Pierson.

Because of the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation.They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.

Harvey Joe will lie in state at the Strickland Funeral of Hartwell from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday for anyone to come by and pay their respects.Also anyone can leave their condolences and best wishes on Harvey Joe's tribute page by going to www.stricklandfh.com.

A private family graveside service for Mr. Harvey Joe Sanders will be held at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
