Mr. Heber Homer Watkins, 83, of 7572 Elberton Highway, Dewy Rose, husband of the late Beatrice King Watkins, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Landmark Hospital in Athens.
Born on July 17, 1928 in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Heber H. Watkins, Sr and Pauline Bird Watkins.He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, and was a US Air Force Veteran.
Survivors include his two sons, Danny Watkins of Dewy Rose and Edward O. Watkins of Hartwell; and one brother, Robert Watkins of Knoxville, TN. Six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, Gary Watkins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Curtis Parker officiating.Burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday.The family is at the home.
