Helen Faye (Hendley) Morrison, age 89, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at The Oaks – Scenic View in Baldwin, GA following an extended illness.
Born April 26, 1931, in Old Fort, NC She was the daughter of the late George and Lily Hendley. Helen has been a long-serving resident of Lavonia. She was involved in the business community for decades. She retired as owner and operator of "Helen's Country Store" located in the Gumlog Community. Prior to purchasing the store Helen worked as a pharmaceutical technician at the "Toccoa Clinic Pharmacy."
Helen enjoyed decades of membership in the Lavonia Presbyterian Women of the Church and Bible study, Lavonia Garden Club, and the enjoyment of playing bridge with the dear friends comprising the Tuesday bridge club. Following retirement, she delivered "Meals on Wheels" in the Lavonia area.In addition, she found great pleasure in enjoying time with family as often as possible. She enjoyed her birdfeeders, flower and container gardening, and reading for pleasure.
She is survived by her daughters: Cynthia Barrett (Mike), Teresa Royston (David), Kimberly Lord; grandchildren: Chad Hill, Ashley Welborn, Dustin Edwards, Jarid Vickery, Dustin Welborn, Kaitlin Welborn, Tess Parker, Blake Barrett; brother: Kenneth Hendley; and 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandchildren: Benjamin Hampton Lord, IV and Trippe Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Jennifer Horton and Rev. Dr. Joe Renfro officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Mike Smith officiating at the graveside. The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorial donations may be made, in memory of Helen, to the Lavonia Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 82 Lavonia, GA 30553.
