Helen Vaughn Thompson

Mrs. Helen Vaughn Thompson, 95, of Royston, passed away, June 22, 2026 at her home.

Born on May 1, 1931 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Dewitt Vaughn and Elizabeth LeCroy Vaughn. Mrs. Thompson was a retired seamstress from Oxford of Royston and a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two daughters: Susan Roach (Ronnie) of Royston, Judy Ray (Blake) of Anderson; one sister: Sandra Massey of Bowman; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and one son in law: Roger Bowen.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Charles Thompson; one daughter: Nancy Bowen; two sons: Roger Thompson and Kenneth Thompson; three sisters: Jean Lunsford, Mildred Mize and Madge Howington; and one brother: Durell Vaughn.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Thompson will be Friday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holly Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 202 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
