Mrs. Henrietta Maret Mabry, age 90, of Lavonia, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Hartwell Health and Rehab following an extended illness.
Born September 18, 1924, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Karl Eugene and Sara Sophia (Randall) Maret. She received a Bachelor's Degree from Georgia College and a Master's Degree and Education Specialist Degree from the University of Georgia. She was a retired teacher from Franklin County Schools and Houston County Schools. Mrs. Mabry was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Lavonia Pilot Club, the Lavonia Garden Club, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Howard Mabry; brothers: Karl D. Maret and Randall Maret; and sisters: Marguerite LeCroy, Kathleen Jackson, and Annie Akin.
She is survived by her son: Spencer Mabry of Highland Village, TX; daughter: Jan Mabry of Norcross; brother: Charles Maret of Dalton; sisters: Jo Nix of Hamilton, Sue Maret of Lavonia, Elaine Gibbs of Royston, and Bette Cowles of Marietta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. A private burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. Mrs. Mabry will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at other times the family will be at the home.
